Remembering the 2017 trade deadline…

Can you believe it has been 6 years since 2017, where we saw the Tigers raise the white flag and trade some of their biggest stars for prospects?

We saw Al Avila trade J.D. Martinez, Justin Wilson & Alex Avila, in July and Justin Upton & Justin Verlander on August 31. In return, the Tiger received prospect Dawel Lugo, Sergio Alcantara, Jose King, Jeimer Candelario, Isaac Paredes, Grayson Long, Elvin Rodriguez, Franklin Perez, Daz Cameron, Jake Rogers.

Only Rogers is still with the Tiger. The rest are no longer with the Tigers, and only Candelario and Paredes have found any real success in other organizations. Candelario is still himself, but Paredes has really developed in Tampa Bay.

Not Avila bashing, but the failure to develop the rest of these prospects, wether is was deveopment, health or talent, is part of what has set the Tigers back as far as they are today.
