Minor League Recaps 7/11

West Michigan, Connecticut and the GCL Tigers all won during yesterday's action. Third-round selection Jeff Thompson earned his first professional win for West Michigan, while second-round pick Kevin Ziomek started for Connecticut and pitched two scoreless innings.

Triple-A: Toledo Mud Hens (39-57)

L, 10-3 vs. Columbus. The Mud Hens recorded just five hits in the loss. But Avisail Garcia had two of those hits, including a leadoff solo home run in the fourth inning. Jose Valverde was roughed up for two runs in his one inning of work.

Eugenio Suarez, Brandon Douglas and Daniel Fields notched Erie’s three hits. Fields appeared in his first game since June 22, as the centerfielder was dealing with a concussion.
