Minor League Recaps 7/1

Erie was the only affiliate to win during yesterday's action. Connecticut and the GCL Tigers were postponed due to rain, and Lakeland's second game of a scheduled doubleheader was also postponed. Anibal Sanchez started his rehab assignment for the Flying Tigers, but exited the contest during his second inning of work after taking a line drive off of his left leg. He was treated after the game, but no further report was available as of last night at 10 p.m.

Triple-A: Toledo Mud Hens (34-52)

L, 7-0 vs. Lehigh Valley. Nick Castellanos hit his International League leading 27th double, as the Mud Hens were shutout and only recorded four hits. Derek Hankins took the loss for Toledo.

He received treatment after the game, but there was no further update available as of last night at 10 p.m. The Flying Tigers played just six and a half innings due to poor weather, but the game was ruled to be official. Devon Travis made his debut for Lakeland after being subbed into the game as a pinch runner. Travis recorded a double in his lone at-bat. Lakeland infielder Brandon Loy broke his hand in the ballgame. The other contest in the doubleheader was postponed due to rain.

L, 6-1 vs. Bowling Green. Taylor Guerrieri, who is Tampa Bay’s top pitching prospect according to, pitched six scoreless innings against West Michigan and picked up the win in the process. Edgar De La Rosa started for the Whitecaps and was tagged with the loss. The right-hander logged five innings for the ‘Caps, and allowed three runs on seven hits. West Michigan scored their only run of the ballgame in the eighth inning, as Jeff Holm plated David Gonzalez with a single to centerfield.
