Devon Travis made his debut for Lakeland after being subbed into the game as a pinch runner. Travis recorded a double in his lone at-bat. Lakeland infielder Brandon Loy broke his hand in the ballgame. The other contest in the doubleheader was postponed due to rain.

Edgar De La Rosa started for the Whitecaps and was tagged with the loss. The right-hander logged five innings for the ‘Caps, and allowed three runs on seven hits. West Michigan scored their only run of the ballgame in the eighth inning, as Jeff Holm plated David Gonzalez with a single to centerfield.
